Introducing New Recycle.Me Clothing from Regatta

In the UK alone, 300,000 tonnes of textile items are discarded into household waste, including polyester. Up until now, polyester that had no useful life left would have been disposed of. With this project, we can now save that waste and return it to supply chains.

Why are we doing this?

Our vision is to the close the loop of circularity with a textile-to-textile recycling system that prevents garments ending up in landfill or with no valuable use. Many recycling systems only manage to re-purpose complicated multi component garments into other products such as insulation, sound proofing, or other soft textile items, which is known as down-cycling.
Recycle.me is industry leading, specifically designed for recyclability. Using mono-fibre fabric and simplified trims that allows it to be successfully recycled via mechanical processing into pellet which can be made back into new textile garments.
Whilst this range is still produced with the same quality and durability that is central to all Regatta Professional garments, we want to ensure that when Recycle.me garments do eventually reach the end of their life, they can be responsibly recycled and their value retained.

Our Partners

We have partnered with the Circular Textiles Foundation, Salvation Army Trading Company and Project Re:claim on our new Recycle.me range, to certify the range as recyclable and put a system in place that will prevent the garments ending up in landfill or incineration.

How Project Re:claim recycle your clothing

1.Designed for Recycling
Garments entering the recycling machine need to be 100% polyester mono-fibre.

2.Shredding
End of life polyester garments are shredded into small pieces.

3.Melting
The shredded fabric is melted down into a PET lump.

4.Pelletising
The melted material is cooled and cut into tiny PET pellets.

5.New Yarn Creation
The pellets are supplied back into the textile industry, where they’re spun into new yarn - ready to create new products.

Can you decorate Recycle.me Garments?

Yes, Recycle.me garments can be decorated thanks to our partnership with SATCoL. Regatta Professional recommend that these garments use either embroidery or DTF printing methods. This is because both of these methods can be recycled.
